Hi All, I have a 2015 Prius C Two. My aftermarket 12V AGM battery gave up the ghost, and after reading several threads on here, I'm leaning toward buying an OEM battery direct from a dealer and replacing it myself. When I look at the Toyota parts website, three part numbers come up for my car, all of which are listed as "exact fit": 00544-21181-320 00544-H3LN0-TS 28800-21181 These range in price, with the TrueStart (00544-H3LN0-TS) being the least expensive. However, when I look at pricing these out on local dealer websites, some state that it may not fit my car, and calling around to dealership parts departments, I had one parts guy tell me the only battery that would work for my car was the 00544-21181-320, which is also the most expensive. What is the difference between these, and is there one that would work best? Also, the service department I spoke to at a dealership told me the battery warranty (24 month replacement, 84 month prorated) would only apply if they installed it themselves for an astronomical cost of $170. Does this sound correct? Does anyone have any experience with warranty claims on Toyota OEM batteries they installed themselves?
The 28800-21181 shows as being for the 2015 C. Also known as S34B20R 28800-21181 Genuine Toyota Battery (toyotapartsdeal.com) I'm pretty sure this is identical to the 12v battery used in the Gen 2, non-sks model.
