So I got this 2005 Prius with 180,000 miles on it. Once a year for the last 3 years I have had to replace the 12v battery. Looks like this will be the third time as the car is not starting again. Jump starting gets it running again. Beeping when I get out of car, red triangle when it first starts up then the triangle goes off. All symptoms of the battery failing. Has any one else seen this? Thanks.
Battery life might be longer by turning the Smart Key System (SKS) off. The SKS 0n/off button is below the steering wheel. What make battery are you using ? Is there anything that might be draining the battery ?
how often to you drive it, and typically how far? there is a constant drain on the battery, and if you don't drive it much, or more than a few miles at a time, it won't charge properly. then you need a battery tender. if not, you might have a parasitic drain.
