shaped with several indentations as if it was designed to carry several specific items. I was coming home from the grocery store the other night and a bottle of wine got loose in the trunk and clanked against another braking one of the bottles. The good news it was the cheap bottle. The bad news is that the wine found its way into the compartment under the battery. In removing things to wipe it up and remove some of the smell, I was pulling parts out and couldn't remember what should have been there. Was it some optional items? What items?
What did you have left over? If some, those are they. If nothing, what's the issue? Did you buy the car new? Was there nothing there when delivered? The items that may have been there include the towing eye, the tool set, and as noted, the cargo cover. Other than that, the cubbies can be used to store a medical kit, spares, winter tools, etc. I suspect the cut-outs are mostly to reduce the amount of foam used in their manufacture.
