    As for the shocking news from DOGE(with no details on when, where, and who), there is this, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/furlough-guidance/unemployment-compensation-for-federal-employees-frequently-asked-questions-for-federal-agencies-december-2018.pdf. When there is a government shutdown, federal employees can collect unemployment benefits. They aren't being paid. Even the ones that are still required to go into to work.

    When Congress authorizes back pay for the shutdown period, the unemployment office is suppose to collect back any benefits paid out. It is all the same process and reasoning that is applied to benefits to private sector employees.

    Now. Who had the longest federal government shutdown in recent history? One long enough to more likely push unpaid employees to needing help paying bills.
