I have a 2008 prius hatchback with a spare set of stock alloy wheels. Will they fit the new 2012 prius Three or Four I am planning to purchase?

Thanks - that saves some money.

Also, is the range of suitable tire sizes the same for both 08 and 12? Assume I am buying standard stuff - no upgrades re wheels and tires.

No, the tires on the 2008 are smaller than the 2010-2012. The correct tire for the GenIII is 195/65/15 with a revolutions per mile of 829. The correct tires for the GenII is 185/65/15 (U.S.) with a revolutions per mile of 855. I would not suggest using a 185/65/15 on the GenIII. It's just not safe.
