Wind Park with Compressed Air Storage

    Here's an interesting bit I just ran across. I've heard about compressed air storage but have never seen a project take advantage of it (apparently there are only two in operation).


    Iowa to Combine Wind Energy & CAES Technology

    I didn't see any numbers on cost/kWh but the article did say that the cost of the storage infrastructure would run about $200,000-225,000, which is well less than the cost of a single utility scale turbine.

    No doubt they have plenty of high pressure air. The question is is there geologic structure that can take that kinda strain? :p

    I'm not sure about the technical name of the structure, but it's shaped like a large rectum. Come to think of it... :lol:
