    could be a boon for FL. That's a wicked current through the straight of FL. The deployment costs would likely be huge, but renewable baseload power with no fuel costs would be outstanding. FL burns a lot of coal so displacing that would be a huge benefit.

    There's a test going on right now on Merseyside (think Liverpool) where small turbines are submerged in the Mersey river to perform a similar function.

    Hopefully it won't take us too much longer to realise that clean, natural energy sources are all around us.

    no kidding. The best part about this particular one is that it can provide baseload power, which to me is the holy grail of renewables. Geothermal and landfill gas, and biomass can do the same. Wind and solar can't without storage, which incurs losses. Maily though, it's just a lack of will power. We're getting there, though. Just not fast enough for some of us.
