I just noticed strange spotting on my side windows. It's worse on the passenger front, but seems present on all of them; a low sun (near-sunset) made them more evident. I've tried Meguiar's NXT glass cleaner, but it doesn't help at all. Anyone ever see anything like this?

Looks like water spots. My car looks like thats after its rains and the rain drys. You might want to try a glass polish.

Something in a different class from the Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner I've been using? Spraying it on and rubbing with a microfiber towel does nothing to take these spots off.

Just called Meguiars with the question, asking about water spots. They said to try their Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner. As one of the two famous series of last words goes, "what could go wrong?" (variant: "how bad could it be?" The other one being, "hey, watch this!")

You must have hard water. I learned the hard way at my hobby farm to only use water from the water softener to wash the car, or those nasty little hard water spots will appear. They are almost impossible to get rid of too

I've had the same thing. Both Griot's Garage and Zaino offer a glass polish that will take that off easily. The more aggressive of the two from Griot's works best. Another alternative is clay bar, but I know that Audi at least does not recommend using the clay bar on paint after it has been used on glass.
