The supply chain situation has made it nearly impossible to get my 2021 Prime LE glass replaced. Is there any lifehack I can use here - like using the glass from a vanilla Gen 4 Prius instead, obviously from the same model year so it has the same driver assistance/camera placement? What about trying to find a real, OEM Prime windshield from a distant dealer and giving it to an installer instead of having them try and fail to find one locally?
According to the Toyota OEM parts site, the Windshield glass is interchangeable between Prius, Prius AWD-e, and Prius Prime. I think they now have aftermarket parts as well. But, if this is a cracked/chipped glass issue, the best bet would be to let the glass installer locate the parts for you. It was in shortage when I had my 2017 PP front glass replaced, and no aftermarket glass was available at the time. The glass installer had to import the glass from Japan and took 4 weeks.
Pen, your original glass shop would have all the info shown above. Try different glass shops. They will have different suppliers and may be able to find a windshield for you. I just checked the Safelite web site for my location. They can do it with either OEM glass ($500 more!) or aftermarket glass. (Isn't the windshield the same for all years of this gen4 Prius, just different for the head-up display?)
