Hey Prius Peeps, I bought an ‘08 recently and noticed the windshield squirters squirt in a very tight pattern. Is there a way to adjust them? Every other car I had allowed for adjustments. And the stream is very weak. What can I do to fix that?
Remove them or more difficult leave them in place and clean 'em out... A needle has worked for me before... If that doesn't work we can talk other options.
There is a diagram of the correct pattern in this thread: Normal windshield washer nozzle pattern? | PriusChat Toyota sells a special tool to adjust the nozzle direction. I made do with two stout pins (fairly long ones which my wife used in quilting) clamped between the jaws of a pair of needle noise pliers. This was one of those adjust, overshoot, adjust the other way, overshoot again sorts of scenarios. The little nozzles stick in a given position and then jump once they break free, so it is hard to get the angle just right. As for the weak stream (he says, barely avoiding using a prostate joke) if a fine pin does not do the trick remove the washer heads and soak them in vinegar. Or once they are off the car attach a tube to them and push vinegar through with a pump, if you have a syringe that will work.
