I recently purchased a 2010 Prius and want to replace the windshield wipers. The car currently has aftermarket blades and i’d like to purchase the OEM assemblies. I read the OEM is designed to deflect the wind and increase mileage, plus i’d like to keep orginal toyota parts if possible. However, one dealership told me that toyota had discontinued the third gen inserts so my questions would be; 1) Should i buy the entire OEM assembly (roughly $60)? 2) Are they discontinuing the third gen inserts? 3) If they are, would fourth gen inserts fit a third gen assembly? 4) If I shouldn’t buy the OEM parts, what aftermarket brand would you recommend I purchase?
don't know, but i would look online before giving up. try camelback and olathe toyota, see what else you can find for oem. if no luck, i like bosche blades.
I've not heard anything about them discontinuing the OEM inserts. They'd better not pull a stunt like that! They are all I want to buy now that I've put them on our two Prii. They are about $9 each and work great. Edit to add: I have not found any aftermarket wipers that last for more than a few weeks or maybe a couple months before they start to leave streaks.
I believe the inserts I used are Michelin. It started to rain when I was driving the Prius home I just bought. The blades were gone! I stopped at walfart and bought a set and installed them. I used them this morning and they are still working correctly. Even the rear one I replaced. These are the longest lasting blades I've ever used! On my Town&Country van, I had to use the cheapest brand they had for the rear wiper because all the "better" brands would not lay correctly for some reason after a month or so. I decided to stop wasting money on them and buy a cheap one.
