Anyone have a clue about the "wire-management" feature in the center console description of the MY11 prius? What exactly is it and how does it work? Front center console w/sliding armrest -inc: storage compartment w/removable utility tray, wire-management feature, (2) cup holders
I could be wrong since I don't use it, but I think it means the tray in the center console where you can lay a Zune or iPod for example has an area of the rim around the tray 'not there' so the cable doesn't have to go over the edge. Here, I found a picture better showing what I mean...
That top tray in the center console also has a the same opening at the rear. I suppose that you could classify it as wire management... but it's hardly. To properly manage the wire mess you would still need to tie up the wire bundle below the tray.
I think Paradox is correct on the wires through the small tray opening. Also, the console sliding cover is rounded at the end toward the dash so that wires can pass through without pinching. When I use my TomTom, it's connected in the center console but sits on top of the drink holder below the shifter. I keep the console closed, but the wires pass through easily.
