Gen 2 with 242k miles. Failed emissions in NY. Check engine light is on with the following codes ( P0420, P0300 P0301 P0303 P1150) The red triangle also popped on with the temperature warning on dash. is it worth the $ for repairs or should I sell for parts? I have a green bean battery with lifetime warranty but used CATS are no longer legal in my state.
First thing I would say is to crack open that tight nice person wallet and buy 4 new sparkplugs. All those misfires could be causing you have a cat code, because, well, you have a sht ton of misfires...if it's not something simple like $30 worth of sparkplugs, you may need to dig a little deeper.
The P1150 is a O2 sensor/mixture issue which may be triggering the other codes; but the over temperature lamp is concerning. Get it properly diagnosed by someone who knows what they're doing and go from there. How much oil is it burning??
In my copy of the repair manual, this code is about the CHRS/engine temperature. Specifically, the car suspects clogging in the line as the engine temperature has not increased to the temperature it was expecting.
Good catch! On a gen2, thermos water pump and/or coolant switch valve. On a V6 Toyota, it's bank2 O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold.
Good place for a reminder that all P1 codes are manufacturer defined—Toyota is free to have P1150 mean different things in every car model they make if they want, and none of those things be the same as what the same code means in any other manufacturers' cars. If you have a P1 code and you are trying to look up what it means anywhere except the Repair Manual for that car model, you're likely to find stuff that's not what it means at all.
