It would normally be covered under ordinary Comprehensive coverage. If an insurer is going to exclude this, they will have to specifically call it out as excluded. Old customers should get a notice of coverage change. If you are a new customer, it might be buried in the fine print. Ask them. Just beware that having the Comprehensive option is not legally required, and many people drop this option as cars get older. This has stung a number of readers here. I'd have dropped it from my package insurance already if not for the cat theft epidemic.
