Hi all, First time poster here. So in other words, go easy on me. I just bought a 2015 Prius TWO and am thinking of replacing the H11 with Xenon HIDs for the low beam. Any recommendations or suggestions? I came across this one brand named XenonHIDs (yup, that is what they are called), with lifetime warranty on the kit. The price looks good, but I couldn't find any details or reviews of that particular brand anywhere thus far. Any one here used them? Also, I am more of 4300K HID Kits, but seems like majority of the brands don't offer 4300K, instead, offer 5000K. What do you guys think about them? In my other car, the OEM ones are 4300K, and they look pretty sharp and white. I got a kit of 4300K for my fog lights, and, comparatively, the aftermarket 4300K are a bit "yellow". Any feedback on the 4300K vs 5000K? Greatly appreciate your responses. Thanks.
I'll just toss in that Xenon headlights are the bane of my existence while driving. They hurt my eyes tremendously. Something to consider.
That's because you're likely thinking of the god-awful retrofits that yahoo's do with their 1997 Civics. Factory installed ones with the correct projector lenses don't shine up into drivers' eyes. Prii have the correct lenses for retrofits like this.
It will be illegal to convert headlight not designed for HID to HID and drive with them on public roads. As an alternative I can suggest H11 to H9 conversion ( you can google it) Alex
that's what you want to get from theretrofitsource The Retrofit Source Inc I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed/
So Morimoto Elite has one vote, so far. Can anyone confirm if I will need the Anti-Flicker capacitor? Much appreciated.
Another vote for the H11 to H9 bulb conversion, link below in my signature. Quality H9 bulbs from Philips or Osram are about $20 a pair. No ballasts and extra wiring to install, no delay when turning on, etc. Read reviews on Amazon for the H9 bulbs. Many have done the conversion.
I'm running 35W Denso AMP ignitors with relay and Morimoto XB35 4300k bulbs. The color is excellent with a nice purple/blue band at the cutoff. They look exactly (colorwise) like a new Porsche. I have a 45 mile commute before sunrise and these lights will break through anything. In comparison, everybody's halogen lights look yellow and dim.
Alright... So I took the cheap(er) route for the HIDs. I have a set of MaxLux in my Acura's Fog and, for the price, was really impressed with them. Bought a pair for the Prius as well, and just got them installed this afternoon. They look pretty darn close to my Acura's OEM HIDs in color and brightness. Will be replacing the Hazards and the High beams soon as well, but for now, they are the stock. Will be replacing the Highs with Silverstar Ultra and might replace the Hazards with LED, not 100% sure in the Hazards though. And also replaced the hood stick with the struts as well, as you can tell. (Sorry I couldnt upload the pictures here, got an error on that. Perhaps because of the resolution) http://s245.photobucket.com/user/mr_raja/library/Prius HIDs
The debate never seems to end.. a lot of it has to do with not understanding which cars should be retrofitted or not. I've had mine for 2+ year now, no issue and very nice cut off. Got mine from HID Kits | Aftermarket Headlights | HID Conversion | KBcarstuff.com This thread may help.. Thinking of HID light kit this week | Page 2 | PriusChat
