I really want a backup camera for my C3. But, i don't necessarily want to install an aftermarket system (which i might have to end up doing). This morning, i took the pre-existing system out of the dash, so i could look at the wiring behind the system, and see which ports were available. (Note... I don't know anything about wiring, and backup camera, etc. I took pictures, so that i could share them with the smart people on Priuschat.) It doesn't look like there is an RCA port available, but there is an empty plug, and plenty of space in another port. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Excellent work! I ran across this link about adding a BU camera to a 2012 Camry that has a similar head unit....Now we just need someone who might have an idea about where the camera input would go and if there is wiring already pre installed... OEM Backup Camera - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums SquallLHeart...have you by chance looked at this in more detail? -M
I'm assuming that it should be easy enough to wire the camera, if it's not already pre-installed. (this assumption is coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing about cars and car wiring.)
I had the tailgate open, when I did the mirror/camera project, i did not see any wiring for a camera, or a place where they would of installed one.
Hey guys. The black one has the connections for the backup camera. I just did the install on my 2012 Camry. I will be putting the camera on my Prius this week. I will be posting a tutorial (video!) assuming it all works
Also you can install a camera in place of a license plate light. (the light still works) Wholesale Product Snapshot Product name is Special Car Rear View Reverse backup Camera rearview parking for 2012 toyota camry
Ya me to. The camera should be here in a couple days. I am going to grab a new multimeter though an start testing the wires out today after work.
I all goes well it'll be worth the wait. And it won't cost much. Maybe 50 dollars all together. My goal is to make a video tutorial.
Brandon Check out the huge thread in the technical discussion forum. That should get you up to date. - M
hey, thanx for all the info, when will u be posting the video? i have a 2012 camry, is the wiring already in the trunk? or do i have to run the wires through the whole car?
I believe I've seen a detailed instructions for rear view camera installation on camry's forum, "Toyota nation" if I am not mistaken.
