Has anyone gone the Zaino detailing route on a Super White Prius? Its fairly clear from pictures that doing a full detailing of your car with Zaino if it is one of the colors results in a finish that has increased "depth" and shine. I'm wondering if the same would hold true on a Super White. I'm not sure I'm ambitious enough to do the detailing myself but if I have it done I'm wondering if it will be worth that added expense. Also, in my younger days you were always told to let the paint on a new car cure for some time (usually about 2 months) before you did any waxing. Its been a long time since I've bought a new car and I'm wondering now if the same holds true or no longer applies. :? If I decide to "Zaino" the car (or have it done) are the correct products to use on a Super White those that are targeted for "Clearcoat" finishes? Thanks.
Heck, Zaino is worth it on any car if you ask me. I think the darker colors will benefit most, visually, but of course any good wax also protects the paint which is worth it long-term. Yes, use stuff for "clearcoat" finish products. I used ZFX, Z5 and Z2 on mine. I am about to post pics of my Black Pri on the "Zaino, wow!" thread.
To the best of my knowledge, all modern automobile paint finishes are now clearcoated. I think the 2 month "dry" time applied more to the old enamel finishes. Remember, the dealer is more than happy to take your $600+ to apply the virtually worthless Toyoguard finish prior to delivery of a new car. Even if this were not the case, remember that a car can be pushing 2 months in age from the time it leaves the factory to delivery. If I were going to pay someone to Zaino my car, I would want to be sure they were experienced detailers and had been well briefed on how to properly apply the products. Personally, I enjoy the time I spend washing and polishing my cars. I think an added benefit of Zaino is its' longevity
[font=Comic Sans MS:b507349cc4]As a point of reference, a top-end detail shop here pushes Meguirs and charges $300 for a complete detail. I asked them about Zaino and the owner of the company said he actually likes it better, and that it lasts longer, but he doesn't do it very often. He said he has to charge $500 for the first two-coat polish (with Dawn pre-wash) since it takes all day. Apparently BMW, Porche, and Mercedes owners would rather pay $300 every three months...[/font:b507349cc4]
