You got a lot of funny business going on there buddy You say you replaced the ECU I'm sure you're talking about the ECU under the dash maybe not in the battery front end seems to be a lot of terminology problems and whatnot
Hi Mendel, you’ve always been helpful when I’ve asked you a question. After just over 10 years 8 months and over 160,000 miles, the 12 volt battery on our 2014 Prius has finally failed. So, I’m looking at options. AAA wants $250 for their replacement, Costco wants $180 for theirs (Interstate). Do you recommend either of these or another brand? Thanks for any advice. Cheers, Dave
Yeah, only select Costco’s have the one I need, so I’ll probably go with AAA that includes install. I might even check with the local Toyota dealer, but I doubt they use a memory saver. AutoZone has the yellow top Optima for $290.
Dealerships up here are absurdly high priced, even just for the battery. Still, they may have memory, they’re nothing special.
Turns out my dealer was just under $216 for a True Start w/84 mo warranty. They gave me a military discount, so just over $194 plus tax. They also said I could start the car, let it run and change the battery without losing memory. I hesitate to do that though, so I’m waiting on the memory saver to be delivered tomorrow.
Hey PC! Saw your question in my thread. I was just fine until last October, then I was hit with a bunch of problems. Between work & juggling the onslaught of problems, I had to put YouTube videos aside for a bit. But they'll be back soon. Still in my car & love it. April 11th will be the 3 year anniversary. This forum needs to hire you as a mod or something. Your knowledge is quite amazing when it comes to Prius'
Hi Bisco. Sorry to bother you. Would you be able to look at my post on leaking brake fluid and offer any advice?

I sent a note to the moderator about a duplicate post. I also asked the moderator how they are doing.
Hi folks. I'm still driving my 2005 Prius. I need help with a good RV/Boat storage place in Tucson. Also best practices.
Hi Mendel, On my 2011 Prius I was putting the caliper for front right brakes back on. Lucky me, I stripped the upper steering knuckle bolt of the caliper bracket. I had my wrench set at 101 ft. lbs.; but that doesn't matter now. What are your thoughts? My guess is it is a steering knuckle replacement. Never done that? Thanks, Ken
How did you strip it? The bolt threads are damaged, it's head rounded, or? Might be the damage is just to the bolt, hopefully. 101 ft/lb's is correct torque. Did you lube the threads maybe?
Hello from Los Angeles. I came across your message and was surprised because what happened to me now 2-27-25 you described back in 22. Everything is exactly the same. But there is no continuation of how you solved the issue. Please write at least briefly. I'm talking about the buttons on the steering wheel of the Prius Thank you.
Hi Kris, I need a couple more days. Terribly sadly I have to attend TWO Memorial services tomorrow and Sunday. Will write back as soon as I can.
