Hello all, I purchased my first Prius just two days ago. I got a 2007 with only 50k miles on it. My work commute is about 100 miles each day round trip and I got to a point where my 2004 Ford Explorer just wasn't cutting it. My first day on my commute (which is about 95% highway driven) I averaged 47 MPG doing roughly 75 MPH on the highway. Today, I got 51.8 MPG going about 66 MPH. I knew the slower speed would increase the mileage, although I was surprised how much it is affected. Does anyone have an "optimal" speed they would like to share? I'm a bit of a lead-foot and would like to go faster than 66 MPH Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase in the first 48 hours. Hoping mine maintains that standard of quality and durability that most others seem to have.
Probably optimal speed is 45mpg but who can drive that slow. There is a chart out there on these Forums showing Gas Mileage vs Speed. The faster you go the MPG drops. Also, welcome to the Group.
Drive your age, nah that doesn't make sense. Most people drive slower as they get older. Why not try driving 3249 divided by your age.
