I have a 2009 Prius Touring with under 60k, I'm the second owner and I noticed that the speaker on top of the dash has a rattle in it, not constant, but just when certain sounds come out of it. Does anyone know what size this is and how to remove/replace it? Also, is it possible that it just needs a new foam seal around it like I've seen in other posts? Thanks in advance.
You don’t need to remove anything except that speaker. If speaker is rattling in the dashboard you only need to put tape in the connection clips to make them tight again. While you take it out you should just unplug the connector from the speaker it makes sound quality better. Here is some discussion about it and some instructions how to remove it Center Speaker Disconnect | PriusChat
I just did this yesterday after reading this post. I've been addicted to a particular album recently and have been listening to it on my commute so I can say with some certainty that simply disconnecting the center speaker made a MASSIVE difference. Its like night and day for the mids/high notes. Best 5 minute fix I've ever done!
