As you can tell from the title, I am a little freaked out. A friend of mine and I replaced my entire sound system today (kicker comp S 10" subwoofer, kicker 3 way 6.5" door speakers, pioneer bluetooth touchscreen stereo). Needless to say all the speakers and such were wired up right, I just need to clean them up a little bit. The main problem I am having is that the metra steering wheel control modules that I bought, do not seem to be working and somewhere in the process, my stock head unit has gone completely blank. Cannot control my A/C or anything from the unit. I do not wanna take it to best buy or the dealer to see if they can do it if its something stupidly simple like forgetting to plug something in or some dumb crap like that. If anyone else has run into this issue with installing a double din unit please let me know how you solved it! Thanks, Sam
As You can see in the top screen it is completely blank, I am a little perplexed as to why this is. Because we did not mess with anything regarding that unit. Unless it is the steering wheel control module that we thought would help and actually just screwed the pooch even more.
yeah used shrink wrap and solder, factory harness adapter but still no dice. maybe i need to say bye bye to steering wheel controls and just take out the adapter
could be the adapter is just a bad one right out of the box. I had a metra axxess in my '04 and never had a problem.
Climate control data was fed through your stock radio, you need to install a 68 ohm resistor to refeed the data to the multi function display with your new radio . See link below on where to install the resistor : http://metraonline.com/files/products/INST95-8240B_web.pdf
So after me and my friend realized we were idiots and IMkenNY sent the link. We managed to figure it out. I was seriously worried about my car, but leave it up to a resistor missing to screw things up that severely.
I'll have to look into that, currently I was just so frustrated and it was cold and rainy so we said screw steering wheel controls at the moment.
I like the steering wheel buttons a lot, even though I'm too dyslexic to remember which button is which without looking at them.
Yeah I dig them, especially when its windy and I need to 2 arm the wheel to stay in my lane. But until I have another day off from both school and work, it is a project that can wait.
