I have a 2006 Toyota prius. after my boyfriend unhooked an extra amp we had, all the power windows stopped working but the drivers window. No sound comes from the windows when I press any switches. Its not the window lock button, not the power window master switch (ordered one from switchdoctor and it won't even operate the driver window that was working) we checked all the fuses that we could find that operates the power windows but they were fine. What could it be if its not the switch or fuses? Could all 3 window motors but the driver side have bad motors at the same time?
i guess i would start checking inside the drivers door handle. are you competent with a multi meter? seems likely to be the problem area, since the other 3 windows are controlled from there.
Yes I can use a multimeter, where would I start? I know absolutely nothing about power windows. Thanks for your response!
nor do i, but i would start by opening up the drivers door switches and looking for power and continuity through the other 3 windows. still, i have no idea how disconnecting an amp could affect anything.
1) Did you check the power window fuses with a multimeter using continuity test? If NO, then do so. 2) Highly unlikley the switch and all three motors went bad simultaneously. 3) Trace the power connection of the disconnected amp wires back to their source. One of these is likley the culprit, causing a short.
