I went to get the battery in my Fob replaced hoping it was just my battery. However, I was refereeing and dropped my fob in a puddle of water while it was raining a few nights ago. The battery didn't work and my fob isn't sending any signals. I'm guessing my fob is fried and I need a new fob. Are aftermarket Prius fobs bad? Where can I get a fob online for cheap? Someone said ebay (smtoyotascion) and amazon (someone said $40). The place I took it to said $70 to program and the aftermarket was about $150 so $220. The new was like $175 or $200. Any advice?
Look at the chicken dance thread, and here is where I bought my new fob How to Program a New Key Fob for Full SKS Functionality | Page 27 | PriusChat
found one new for $135. https://parts.camelbacktoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-keyless-entry-transmitter-8907047180?c=Zz1lbGVjdHJpY2FsLWxpZ2h0aW5nLWFuZC1ib2R5JnM9YW50aS10aGVmdC1zeXN0ZW0mbD00Jm49U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHMmYT10b3lvdGEmbz1wcml1cyZ5PTIwMDkmdD10b3VyaW5nJmU9MS01bC1sNC1lbGVjdHJpYy1nYXM%3D
Make sure the fob matches your car. That model FOB is for cars that don't have SKS and require the FOB to be inserted into the dash slot. If your car has the black buttons on the doors, it should have SKS.
SKS fob with silver logo on the back 89994-47061 GENUINE TOYOTA NEW 04-09 PRIUS TRANSMITTER SMART KEY REMOTE FOB 89994-47061 | eBay
Mine is inserted into the dash slot. It is a 2009 but if that's the difference between SKS and non-SKS that helps because I wasn't sure.
Olathe Toyota has SKS fobs a bit cheaper than that. It is better to check to see if you have a 'Key' button below the steering wheel column. It is present, you have SKS and need the more expensive fob with the silver logo. If it is not present you need the cheaper fob with the black logo.
looks like I need the more expensive key. My key fob is working now. I do have a spare that doesn't work tho
The 89994-47061 is Toyota's latest revision for the 2004-2009 Gen 2 Prius SKS key FOB. It supersedes the -47060 and -47091. If the ones advertised say they are a direct replacement for that number, then they're advertising it as being correct.
