Can any one explain the differant displays used in the Prius. My owners manual talks and souws screen shots of 2 differant styles, one with more detailed inages and the other more block style. Mine has the more block style, what is the differance? Paul
Prius without a back up camera have the low res display. Your 2008/#6 you should have the high res display.
Only the lower-resolution screen was available for 2004 and 2005. In 2006 the higher resolution screen became available, at least for higher packages. I am not sure if the lower resolution screen is still used, but it sounds like it is on lower packages...?
To refine the question, my 2008 owners owners manual shows 2 displays, Type A and Type B. my package 6 has a type A. Determined from looking at the screen shots diferances. Looking at the screen shots it looks like the Type B might be the better screen. Paul
In 2004 and 2005, as Sarge indicated, the Prius had the lo-res screen; we'll call this version "Colecovision." Starting in 2006, Toyota started using hi-res screens; we'll call this version "PlayStation 2." I was of the impression that all Prii built 2006+ had the hi-res screen, thus annoying us 2004/05 owners to no end. So I'm skeptical of Jiipa's indication that certain models of Prius still have the lo-res screens. And therefore, I'm curious how your '08 could have the lo-res screen. Oh heck, here are screen shots of the two styles: 2004 - 2005 ==> 2006 - 2009 ==> [edit] I just noticed. The odds of me scouring the internet looking for two pictures of the Prius Energy screen and finding two that each show "45ºF" is pretty amazing.
Something just occured to me. Perhaps you are talking about the differences between the "Energy" screen and the "Consumption" screen. What I've shown above is the "Energy" screen showing where the energy is flowing. If you press the button (Consumption) in the lower-left corner, you are taken to the "Consumption" screen, shown below. On the "Consumption" screen there is another button called (Energy) which, when pressed, takes you to the - you guessed it! - "Energy screen.
In earlier years, the steering wheel buttons varied based upon the package of the Prius. Is that still the case? With the [INFO] button ==> Without the [INFO] button ==>
yeah this was already discussed in earlier threads..... you need at least a package 3 (bluetooth & cd changer) to have the high resolution screen installed. type 1 = navigation, bluetooth, or cd changer type 2 = handsfree bluetooth and cd changer with no navigation type 3 = base prius no cd changer type 3 is the "low resolution", 1 + 2 are the "enhanced resolution" displays type 3 does not have steering wheel controls for map, info, telephone im thinking cars with the back up camera option are stuck with type III is because there are no high resolution screens in the manual showing the single cd changer, so i am pretty sure that you need the cd changer in package 3 at least to get the high resolution screen sarcastic section ---------------- perhaps this often asked topic should become a sticky
If you don't have Nav, you have the lower rez screen. I don't have nav, and that's what I have. Really (this one has been beaten to death many times).. If you don't believe me, ask Hyo Silver... he's ridden in my car!!
if you do not have navigation you still get the higher rez screen as long as you have the telephone & cd changer in package #3
Ok, I sertainly do not like beeting on that dead horse, But I do have package 6, multi CD, Navand bluetooth. My screen looks the same as TonyPSchaefer posted. Is that High resolution or low resolution. My owners manusl fererrs to it as Type A. Does Type A name refer to Low res? When did the Type A and Type B referances inter the owners manual? I really hope I donot have a low res when it should be Hi res bassed on the equipment installed. I do have the phone and map buttons on the wheel. Thanks Pau l:behindsofa:
i stand corrected type 1 (hi res) navigation type 2 (hi res) package 2 or package 3 type 3 (low res) = base or package ??? now we need someone to chime in and report that they have a base prius or package 1 (with the camera) and tell us what display they have!
