    Try trading cars with your wife for a tank or two. The reason for the lower mpg may be the driver and not the battery.

    The first step is to plug into the OBD2 port and run a scan. You'd be surprised at how much data these things put out if you use the right scan...

    To the OP, maybe trade cars with your mom for a couple of weeks (a tank of gas or two). That would determine if it's the car or the driver.
