When I called the insurance company to insure my new Prius, they asked what anti-theft, etc equipment was installed. Later, when the declaration arrived, I noted an entry for GPS tracking. I know that the navigation sytem works off of GPS satellites, but can it be located if stolen (like OnStar and Lojack?)
No, unfortunately, the navigation system in the Prius can't be queried for its location from an external source and then transmit the result as OnStar and Lojack do.
Personally I like it that way. I don't want some set of people that I can't identify or control to have access to my vehicle position history and ability to monitor all my voice conversations as Onstar users put up with.
