dears hope you're all feeling well. i have toyota prius 2007 with full options " bluetooth , navigation , ...etc " , but unfortunately i discovered that i dont have the DVD under my seat which supports the navigation , because of that when i press on the map button , it displays on the screen " the external system is not connected ". kindly i would ask if i could add an external GPS device ( ex. igo , route66 , nav ) to my toyota prius 2007 and connect it to navigation display screen . if yes , could any one tell me how ? if no , then could anyone help me to find a solution ?
I have an 06' and the DVD player for the Nav system is under the drivers seat, just pop the Map DVD you buy from your local Toyota dealer in there There's not an aftermarket GPS that will play on the MDF but any aftermarket GPS is better then the factory one you're trying to get working. Garmin and Tom-Tom have frequent free updates and actually direct you where you're going, the Toyota DVD system is lacking in the small details dept, like finding it's way out of a wet paper bag.
thanks alot for your reply yes you are right , but the point is that i dont need to have alot of display items . is there any GPS receiver or GPS device i can connect to the toyota main display screen .
You can replace the whole unit with a GPS enabled one, you can insert the map dvd from Toyota it's asking for, you might request here if someone has an extra compatible dvd for cheap, but I don't know of any gps device that plugs into the factory head unit.
thats what i mean . any way , i'll try searching till i find any other solution that enables me to attach an external GPS receiver and displays it on the toyota Main Display screen .
