I'm liking my newly acquired 2007 Prius but want to add a new HU with BT and iPod/iPhone/USB capability. I've got the basic 6 speaker stereo (non JBL) and no factory BT. I know how to do wiring/soldering......etc....so no problems there. What I need to know is the following. Dos my non JBL stereo have an external amp of does the HU do all the amp duties? I'm thinking of doing a double din in the factory spot and have read about the harnesses, plastic bits needed...etc. Just not sure about the need or no need to bypass a factory amp? Any help out there? Thanks, guys!
There is no amp. I just did such an install and found that, for me, my Pioneer radio gives me really great sound without the need for an amp.
