Low interstate MPG

    Tire pressures change when the ambient temperature changes as with the change in seasons as well as changes in atmospheric pressure. That is why it is good practice to check tire pressures regularly, like every time you fill up.

    Another thing is you may just have leaking tires. You could call in to your tire place and have them checked for leaks and get them repaired, if necessary.

    That's all I got.

    You might get yourself a valve core tool at your local parts shop. Tighten up the valve cores on all four (+spare) tires and see if that doesn't change things. There is also an issue with corrosion of the aluminum wheel and pitting along the bead shoulder which can cause leaks. That would best be left to the professionals to diagnose. Good luck!

    This isn't my prius. This is how I wish my prius would act.
    I got done grid charging my prius battery this morning. Still no difference, it has good around town power and can drive all electric if I want it to, but on the highway it doesn't hardly act like a hybrid.
    I wish they had some sort of software update for my prius

    Check the dealership for tires. This month (at least in texas) Toyota has a buy 3 get one for $1. Get some LRR's!

    I think you may be right. I really wish my tires went almost new. Does anyone know what I could do with tires that have almost full tred?

    Decided to put them on my sisters prius that is in desperate need of new front tires (due to bad struts). I'll take her rear tires and put them on the front of mine, and buy new some more ecopias for the rear. I'm excited!

    have 2 new Ecopias on the rear and 2 used Ecopias on the front. Just got back from a trip in to Nashville via I-40 with the cruise control set on 73 MPH, slight up and down hills, averaged 52 mpg by the time i got downtown. So happy!!
    Tires really do make a difference! Always go with LRR tires folks

    Last time I checked it was in the low 40's mpg. She sets the cruise on 78-80 on a hilly interstate. I'll check it later today.

    Whoa! Just checked her avg mpg.... 39.0 !!! I think she has some explain to do. Even when my other sister got in to major road rage with the same people on the same road 2 days in a row for periods of over 100 mph, it was never that low! Haha

    That poor Prius! 104 mph. Thoes people she was racing would find the slowest truck possible to match their speed and block traffic in the fast lane. Finally she had used an empty merging lane to get around the 18 wheeler. Then they floored it so they could get in front of her to block her path again.

    The prius out ran that Mazda two days in a row! Go Prius!

    Wow Barry, 47 MPG at 58 MPH. Seeing as I already get about 58 MPG at 58 MPH I'll definitely not be putting that modification on my Prius.

    Even though that prius had 400,000 how was it getting such bad mileage? Lol! 15 psi in all the tires?

    Barry. You need to test more than just the instantaneous fuel consumption over a short test run to get any meaningful results. This is even more so on a car like the prius where there is a fair bit of capacity for the battery to be contributing more or less energy over the short term, which could potentially give misleading results.

    You really should be looking at full tank averages at least. Preferable averages over many tanks and also blind trials where the driver doesn't know whether or not they have the system installed. I'm not trying to be an nice person or anything, but honestly I'd take a lot more convincing than what I've seen so far.
