I had a quick question, hoping somebody knows the answer... I have a 2006 Prius, base model with 51830 stereo (no aux or mp3 capabilities). I purchased the 51824 on ebay for $60 so I could enjoy AUX & MP3 feature... now I am just waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime, I just realized I have no idea which cable I need to purchase so I can run an AUX wire. Does such a cable exist? Do I have to make it myself? Thanks!
I'm thinking your AUX cable uses a 3.5 jack for that model year. Found this post but do a thorough search to integrate everything. Will Head Unit 51824 work in Base Prius? | PriusChat
Thanks for the reply, however I couldn't find any info about the wiring. I need to rig/purchase a wire that connects from the rear of the stereo headunit on one end, and then a female 3.5 jack on the opposite end (which is where I will use a male-to-male 3.5 cable to hookup my phone). I just don't know what this magical wire looks like, or where to get it...
Check with your local Stereo Installer. Also in the Gen II forums there are people that did aftermarket installations that might know the answer. Google is coming up with a lot of hits on this.
Ok, well if anyone who has actually done the upgrade could chime in, that would be greatly appreciated
Apparently I am not cool enough yet to post links, but if you search Adding a free Aux in to a 2007 Prius | Coreforge it will take you to directions on what pins you need to use on the 51824 head unit
