Having recently experienced my first accent in the rear (thank god it was only minor) . This accident that happened, I was at a stop and a lady bumped into me because an old guy behind her didn't see her. She caused some minor scuffs and scratches on my rear bumper, luckily she got the most damage than I did. I decided to invest in a 2-way dash cam , one that also records from the back. My current dashcam that I have only records in the front. This is what I have currently: http://a.co/2UDd6j0 I still want to protect myself as much possible if anything like this happens again. If anyone has much more experience than me , i would appreciate any help!
The most cost effective solution, since you already have one facing forward is: Get another inexpensive one and point it BACK. And while you are at it, get two more and record both sides too. (Sorry but I think your proposal is being a bit paranoid.)
That doesn't make sense. If you have a "budget" then cost does matter. Which is why I made the suggestion I originally did. I don't think you will find a two-direction with decent resolution for that price.
This may not help but at the recommendation of another PC member, I recently looked into a GPS for the wife to use in her business rental cars and discovered they now offer more features (thanks to smartphone competition) such as dash cameras and lane warning notifications. And can report they work great! Since the gen 2 nav (if it even has it) is so outdated, you might consider researching a gps/dashcam and use your current one for the rear. Refurb's might meet your budget range. FWIW
Start saving and ask Santa for a serious upgrade. $100 doesn't get you quality dash cams, esp a 2-channel set-up. Best Dashcam - BlackVue BlackVue just came out with a really nice upgraded 2CH set-up, using a Sony STARVIS image sensor. DR-750S-2CH, DR-490-2CH The DR-650S-2CH, is still good, and will be cheaper, since it just got replaced by the two above. BHPhoto.com had the DR-650S-2CH on a killer sale last year, <$200. Hopefully they will have that again. Best bet might be Massdrop.com. They operate like groupon, but only deal with high end merchandise. I think they had the DR-650S-2CH for $225.
