I bought a 2007 Prius base with 140k miles after my old 2008 Prius touring 280k miles was driven over something that caused all the oil to evacuate and the engine to seize. The new car is in beautiful condition but I miss the reverse camera, the keyless entry, and the extra buttons on the touch screen. Can I easily swap hardware between the two and upgrade the 2007 Prius? I already put in hybrid battery cells from a junked 2017 prius so I've done work on them before Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I am attempting the same thing with a base 2007 after my old 2007 (package #6 non-touring) was totaled. It is possible, but not easy. To retrofit the keyless entry (smart key) system, particularly, requires disassembling essentially the entire interior of the car to get at parts and wiring. Many, many hours of work. I am planning to post a guide when I finish the project, but I believe most reasonable people would agree that retrofitting any of these features is far too much labor to be worthwhile, even if you have all the required parts (from a donor car.)
