I have a Prius 2009, 210,000 miles. When pushing the "MAP" button, there is a sentence " the external system is not connected". So, I cannot use the GPS when driving. What is the problem and how to fix it, thank you.
... and if your car did come from the factory with GPS, someone has removed the navigation box from under the LH front seat.
The fix is to use your cell phone/tablet or buy a Garmin with lifetime maps. Toyota is no longer supporting the system and no updated DVD's may be provided by any third party so it is outdated and innacurate. Besides, the cost of a DVD update (when they were available) was more than the cost of a Garmin unit with lifetime map updates.
idk which one i have. when i press map, i just get the spinning circle forever. kinda like priuschat sometimes
I have the map button on my steering wheel and get the same message...but don't have NAV. Car never did. I wonder if I can reassign the button with a PAC steering wheel adapter to do something else. Maybe when I upgrade the HU to Carplay someday. Turbo would be nice. Or smokescreen, or even a parachute?
