Just bought a 2006 Prius that already has what seems like the OEM back up camera installed but the camera quality is terrible and it is hard to see anything on screen even during the day. it works with the MFD I've decided that I want to replace it. Will any camera work? Ideally i would replace it with one that has the back up lines higher fps, and works with the MFD + works well at night.
Based on research I need a harness to do this but I am unable to locate and confirm if any of the ones I saw will work. Anyone with exp on this or any kind of insight is appreciated. Thank you in advanced for checking this out. I believe my MFD is 7 button as one of them is a nav button but when i press it it says this system is not installed or something those lines.

Were any additional adjustments used on the MFD - brightness, contrast, color rendering?

Also, if the camera lens is dirty, you get an awful image on the screen.

I recently had to polish the camera lens as it suddenly (as in overnight) started producing a very blurry image. A simple cleaning, like I normally would do from time to time, did not improve the image like it normally did.

    YMMV.

    I hope that helps.

No everything was in the middle. From what I've been searching the backup that came on them were not great.

I installed this in my 2008 that did NOT have a back up camera. I do know the stock OEM camera runs on 6 volts...which is unique.
I had replaced the Head Unit with a JVC X177 and just plugged the input of the camera into the back of the head unit. It was a lot of work but not I have a very good image for backing up. If your going to stick with OEM. I would buy new from Toyota...or visit a junkyard and pull your own.
