Call for volunteers: Gen 2/3 Prius fault-code data needed

I’m building B.E.T.S.Y. (Battery, Engine & Toyota Scanner for You), an open-source Android diagnostic app for Toyota hybrids, and I could use some help from fellow Prius owners.

Right now, B.E.T.S.Y. can actually read the raw Toyota INF/sub-codes from the hybrid ECU. It can’t decode them yet, but that’s already one step further than Dr. Prius, which doesn’t read these sub-codes at all.

Decoding them is what I’m working on next, and for that I need enough real-world samples to figure out what the returned data means.

So I’m looking for volunteers with Gen 2 and Gen 3 Priuses (roughly 2004–2015), especially cars with stored fault codes, to help crowdsource captures.

Install v0.0.2, connect an ELM327 Bluetooth dongle, capture the data, and use the built-in Share button to submit it directly to the public GitHub repo.

Because this is an early release, the APK is installed directly rather than through the Google Play Store. The project is completely open source, so anyone can inspect the code, and the downloadable APK is built automatically by GitHub Actions from that same public source. You don’t have to take my word for what’s in it.

There’s no account or sign-up required, and the app does not upload your VIN, location, or other identifying data.

Healthy cars are useful too as control samples.
