Fred, the gnarly part of the problem is that a person suffering from Alzheimer's often slips in and out of lucidity. One minute they're thinking normally, the next minute they're completely lost. So, in a lucid period, she could possibly operate the car, especially if she'd done so before the dementia began.
Has anyone installed something like this in their car (Prius or otherwise)? Knife switch[attachmentid=10678]
Zen, now you're getting totally silly. If you're going to use a knife switch, then, by God, use a serious knife switch! One like Dr. Frankenstein used. I couldn't find a picture on the web. "It's aliiiiive!"
Ah, now I'm happy. Technically, that looks like a power-grid switch, but it's all we've got till someone finds a photo of the one on the wall of Dr. Frankenstein's lab.
