I've got a problem with my "04 Toyota Sienna. I know it is not a Prius, but one of my boys is looking at one ...My Nav was working great, I could get the "overide" and the system worked as it should. I replaced the original disc that came in the car with a 6.1 disc and still had success.(didn't disconnect battery. showed 6.1 on screen.) For some reason, the overide function stopped working a couple of weeks ago. To try to correct it, I put my old disc back in, then the new one, I disconnected the battrey for 30min before reinstalling.. The screen that loaded has NO soft buttons on it. The GPS and roads work, it shows road I.m on, roads, preset locations, poi, ect. Ther must be some residual memory even with the battrey disconnected. The screen is in 1/16 zoom with N up. There are two non-lit soft buttons (labels and zoom) at the bottom of the screen but the have no effect. The lable button has "ent" in front of it. I've posted to the Sienne forum, but have not had enough help to correct this problem. Yesterday I went to a Toyota dealership in Indy, but they did not know how to correct. I've posted pixs of the screen on the Sienna forum. As you can tell, I'm becoming VERY discouraged... PLEASE, any info, help, good news is appreciated. There must be some way to reset the system after repair/replacement..This electrics stuff is too complicated for a "old" guy like me !!!! Thanks for ANY help !!!!!! PFZ
Inside the DVD drive unit (under the driver seat), there's a pushbutton on one of the PC boards. You have to remove the unit, open it up, press the button, then reinstall the DVD drive. There's a thread somewhere here about it, with photos.
Thanks for your reply. This is the first info on how to correct the problem I've had. Does this have to be done when the DVD unit is replaced?? Does the under-seat unit have it's own memory?? Will just disconnecting the unit have any effect ?? I was hoping there might be some hidden buttons on the screen. With the two visible soft buttons on the lower part, is there something the dealer can do with their computer control ?? As you can tell, I'm no very knowlegable with electronics... Where is the thread you mentioned ?? I've looked everywhere.. PFZ
There is a reset button inside of your NAV unit (the box under the seat). Somewhere here on Priuschat there is a thread that shows exactly where the button is...I just didn't find it on a quick search. IIRC once you take the NAV box out there is a small square hole in the metal casing...you can stick your finger in there and feel for the button. Hold it down for a few seconds and then reconnect everything. As you've discerned, there is a small battery within the NAV unit that prevents loss of memory even with the 12V disconnected.
The thread about reseting the NAV unit is here. Note that you may be able to reach the button through a hole in the case, rather than opening it. This applies to the Prius NAV unit; it may not apply to yours.
