I have a 2007 Prius Touring Edition with package #6. I want to delete a number of old destinations from my NAV. The NAV manual on page 53 says to select the destination, touch ROUTE, and DELETE from the next screen. The screen then says the destination is being deleted. But, it is still listed as a destination. Anybody have a suggestion? Thanks. John
I am having the same problem. One time I lucked out and it let me delete the destination. Do you know how to stop the NAV going to a destination once you have started your route? I don't see how to stop it. I have been turning the volume off so I don't have to listen. DAVE
These are two different issues. For the first poster, you are talking about removing a previous destination from the list, which is different from deleting a destination. Deleting a destination refers to deleting one of the current destinations being used for navigation, not a previous one from the list. As far as I know, there is no quick way to remove previous destinations, so if you used NAV to visit your girlfriend, your wife is going to find out. You can always disconnect the power from the NAV system. There may be a simple way, but I'm not aware of it, nor do I see any reason too do it. For the second poster, you need to suspend guidance, which can be done by pressing the suspend guidance button on the NAV screen or by voice command where you say "suspend guidance." That stops all of the guidance without removing the destination. You can later manually delete the destination from the menu or use a voice command, or do what I do, which is to replace it next time I select a new destination. It doesn't hurt anything to leave it suspended. Tom
As an add on to the info that Tom provided relative to suspending guidance and replacing an existing destination with a new one, you can delete destinations from the list of previous destinations as follows: Select menu>setup> scroll down to page 3 then select delete on the 'previous point' line; you may then delete individual destinations (one by one) or all of them. Edit: in reference to the discussion on suspending guidance by Tom, I believe that the button is found on the menu (button on bezel) screen.
:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, JRMlexKY and davesprius! Let me throw in another fun trick with suspending guidance. When I'm going someplace I haven't been, I frequently know how to get 95% of the way there. Getting to the freeway from my house is always the same, I don't need to be told how. So I set my destination in the comfort and quiet of my driveway, choose the route (though that hardly matters if you have nav set to recalculate), start guidance by pressing the Guide screen button, then immediately use the voice command Suspend Guidance. Now SHE doesn't give me turn by turn directions over the route I know. When I'm near where I'm going and want to be guided in, I use the voice command Resume Guidance and SHE directs me right where I'm going, through unfamiliar territory.
Bill, that's a good trick. I use it when going home from my son's house. The roads heading back to the highway in his city have been changed, so we use a more direct route that wasn't there when our NAV data was created. Without "suspend guidance", we have to listen to Jill tell us to turn at every street, then get into a panic about making a legal U turn after we pass the last street. As soon as we get through that section, I let her out of her box. Tom
Also, the voice command "Delete Destination" will also remove the destination from guidance memory, so you don't have to "replace" it later. I think it's actually "delete final destination", but either will work.
It took a trip to my local dealer but I now have the answer. On the 2007 Prius: press SETUP button, touch SETUP, touch DELETE PRIOUS POINTS, either touch DELETE ALL or DELETE PREVIOUS POINTS. You can then touch the destination you want to delete and answer YES. This will delete the selected destination from your list of destinations.
I believe "delete destination" deletes the next destination while "delete final destination" deletes the last destination. If you have only one destination the two are identical. Tom
I tried saying "delete all destinations" yesterday, and that worked great. Thought I would share since I did not see it here. It's the first voice command I have tried that works! Eventually, I guess I will read the manual!:boink:
