Has any one received their ViewTech2005 from Coastal Dave yet? Is there even an ETA? Has Coastal Dave replied your email inquiries lately? Well I don't have much luck so I wonder if the Pac-Audio VCI-X is a good alternative interface for backup camera & audio use. Coastal Dave ViewTech2005: http://www.coastaletech.com/viewtech_2005.htm Pac-Audio VCI-X: http://www.pac-audio.com/products/video.htm If I am not mistaken, the VCI-X can handle only one backup camera video input, while Coastal Dave's can accept 2x video inputs, 2x stereo audio inputs, etc. If this is right, then I have no choice but to wait for the ViewTech2005 as it can do so much more...... Thanks.
I sent a eMail 3 weeks ago and they said my mud flaps and EV would be in the mail the following monday. My card has not been charged and no packages. I don't want to bug them but I hope they are ok. Anyone know.
Well, I just called & the lady @ Coastal Tech said that the ETA for the ViewTech 2005 is another 4 - 6 weeks. So at least they answer phone calls, that's good.
The VCI-X is the same as the #173 converter in this article: http://priuschat.com/forums/-vp58184.html#58184. The #173 is known to work with the Prius, but doesn't come with connectors, making it harder to install than Coastal's product.
Thanks Mike for the info. I found out about VCI-X because of that thread. You & Frenchie taught me a lot. So feature-wise, the VCI-X also pales next to Coastal's, right? Sounds like ViewTech 2005 is the device to get.
Yup - I think so based on what I've seen. We'll know for sure when user reports on the ViewTech2005 start rolling in.
