I am a Prius Newbie and have a question about navigation (I did a search for GPS and didn’t find any matching results for my question). Things that make my thing my car has navigation but it isn’t enabled (I purchased the car used): 1) There is a map button on my steering wheel. 2) On the rear passenger side of the car, on the outside near the top of the hatchback is a small circular “sensorâ€. This sensor looks like an external GPS antenna to me. I don’t see it on most other Prius cars I have looked at. 3) There is a cable that comes out of my console and runs under the driver’s seat. It terminates under the driver’s seat and kind of looks like an coaxial cable for a TV, but not quite. The cable diameter matches the diameter of the cable connected to the external “sensorâ€. Basically I’m wondering if my Prius has GPS capability, but for some reason it has been disabled. Maybe it is something I could add at a Toyota dealership? Thanks for any tips you can provide!
when you hit the map button what do you see? on the 2007 i believe the DVD player is under the drivers seat. might have Nav with no Nav disc
If you don't have a DVD player under the driver's seat then you don't have NAV. The 'sensor' you see near the hatch is probably for a satellite radio that the previous owner had. The NAV antenna is concealed in the dash and is not visible.
that sensor is not for Nav. i have it on my SPM and i dont have nav ...the Nav antenna is usually embedded into the windshield i think and the presence of it means nothing. its in all of them
