I'm the soon-to-be reluctant owner of a 2004 Prius. I would like to take the subwoofers and amplifier from my current car and hook them into the rear of the Prius. I've already got a speaker line to amplifier converter, but I need a power source. I popped the hood of the car this evening and couldn't even find the battery, so I was wondering if someone could provide some assistance as to how to power these subs. I'd like to keep it as simple as possible, so if I could tap into a light or something else in the rear, that would be perfect.
The 12v battery is located in the right rear corner of the car. It is smaller than most cars; a little bit larger than a motorcycle battery. Before installing any audio equipment, make sure to familarize yourself with the location of the HV battery which is approx under the rear seat. Don't drill into the HV battery - its been done before and its a really bad thing to do.
Thanks for the reply. I don't plan on doing much drilling. My subs are already in an enclosure. I just need to set them in place. Is the battery below the "floor" mat in the trunk? If so, can I just hook my amp directly to it?
Yes it is below the cargo mat in the right rear corner of the cargo area. Others have connected to the battery to power additional amps, and it seems the most convenient way to do it. Here is a thread showing a Kenwood sub install: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...9072-kenwood-subwoofer-amplifier-install.html
