I doubt charging with CHG mode will be faster than plugging it in. Electricity is relatively cheap and gas prices are going to go up eventually....
The CHG mode is a necessary feature because it constantly charges the battery as you drive without the engine turning off.
Oh, I forgot that the car has a heated steering wheel, not available on the regular U.S. 4th gen.
