Costco is a top tier gas (added detergents). I'm just wondering if the quality of gas is why some EGRs clog and others don't.
What tier gas have you used in the car? Cheapest you can buy or Tier 1?
When they replace the engine make sure they replace or completely clean the EGR or you will be right back with another blown head gasket.

With that many miles and not having been done I'd either get the EGR serviced (if you can find a place that will clean it) or replaced. Not worth...

The walmart batteries are quite good, been using them for years in all my vehicles (inc the prius).
You are getting about the same MPG as my 2011. I gave up trying to get it higher, just waiting for the hybrid battery needing to be replaced.
