^ definitely crossed my mind quite often to take mine to the track.... I've seen a couple being parted out on ebay and craigslist but not often.
From my past experience, lowering the car dramatically results in a change in the angle of the axle which then puts more stress on the cv boots...
the lower you go, the stiffer it will get on megans due to their short stroke.
