Unfortunately, the bladder tank wasn't eliminated until the Gen III in North America.
In real world city driving, without AC, I saw better mpg out of the Gen I (after the warm up penalty) but, overall, the Gen II beats it handily....

I know you replaced the 12V but, this points to 12V power problems. I think you may have a loose connection to your 12V battery.

I saw where a guy put 2006 Camry seats into a Gen II Prius. If I remember right, they fit fine with no problems.
I agree with Thump, the tab that holds it locked got bent. Bend it back.
