Once the car warms up it will still work. Even on warm days if I don't hit the button before the engine turns on I can't get EV until a few miles.

I've seen buttons that go there that say "Engage" "Don't push me" "Turbo" and other random exclamations. I think Eject is the best.
This action in itself is highly illegal. I wish a cop would touch my car in this manner. I'd have his job for that.

Press the off button. Some people have been having issues with the off button getting stuck. But in their cases the temp went blank like the A/C...
