Depends on what you want to carry. 48 is fine for 2 bikes, but you might want 58 for 3 bikes or 2 kayaks, etc.
Whatever you do, after you mount the bulb, always verify that the bulb is not mounted crooked. Housings have melted from improperly mounted bulbs.
