The point is, and it's a very good point, why isn't *anyone* other than niche manufacturers building EVs? There must be some reason for this, no?

Toyota/Lexus/Scion has 4 (including the Prius and Camry Hybrids). GM has 8 PZEV vehicles at last count.
You mean like all the PZEV models they produce (more, coincidentally than Toyota/Lexus/Scion)?
It's not exactly a good layout... no physical HVAC controls and a lack of one touch stereo presets is a major usability faux pas.
