Uh Oh.... Tar & feather me! Put me on "ignore!" Boot me outa the forum! Guess what? I'm not checking gas mileage anymore! Sorry guys & gals, but after 2 months of constantly watching all those pretty hybrid displays... I got bored! Yes folks, my Prius has become just another little economy car on the road. Just blending in with everybody else. I know it's gonna always get somewhere between 50 and 60 mpg... So why do I need to keep checking it?! Heck, I'd still be happy if I only got 40 mpg! The "hiper-mile game" has gotten old already. Now I just drive it like a regular car. My fuel light came on yesterday... I got something like 587 miles out of that tank... didn't even check to see what the mpg's were... and I just threw 2 gallons in the tank, and drove off! It says I'm good for another 154 miles! My Prius is a good car, and I'm thankful and fortunate to have it... but it really isn't "exciting" anymore. It's just a car. It gets me to Walmart and back. (But it does beat the Corolla I almost bought.) This is the Coast Cruiser... cruisin on outa here.
I was trying to be a little humorous with my above post. Seriously, what a pleasure it is, to drive a vehicle and not being concerned with always checking the gas gauge, or worrying about the gas mileage. During this last tank, I had actually forgot about fueling up... I was just enjoying the last 587 miles of cruisin and leisurely driving, and was totally oblivious to the gas gauge! I'm glad that visual reminder popped up on the screen: "This vehicle has low fuel. Would you like directions to the nearest gas station?" That's a very nice feature. It would be even nicer if it sounded a "chime", and the pleasant lady's voice spoke those words. (I almost didn't notice the screen.) The nice lady showed me the closest Mobil station, and I put 5 bucks in Penelope. It reminded me of High School, when I only had a buck fifty for gas! (Gas was .36 cents a gallon back then.) So yes, it's a pleasure to drive my new Prius, and I'm looking forward to a nice long marriage with Penelope. This Prius Chat forum has been a wealth of information for a newbie like me; a very nice community of posters. Keep up the great work!
Averaging 79.1 MPG on my 2016 Prius, with 669 miles on current tank of gas (152 miles remaining)! Just awesome!!!
I have her some chocolate ice cream and she rewarded me. Ok, guys, I have no idea how that showed up. (but I just had to get a photo of it!) I didn't re-set anything. I went to the park for my walk, got back in the car... and there you have it. Drove around a bit more, then parked and powered off. Started up again, started driving and it only went down a fraction. Drove several miles and it barely changed. Came home and parked. Still very little change. That's not "Trip A" or "Trip B"' or "From the Flag"... That's the regular MAIN Odometer reading. Fueled up yesterday, and everything was normal. But today, I set a world's record! My first "GLITCH?"
Hi Kevin. I never "update" anything. The only thing I do after refueling, is zero out the "Trip A" button. The main odometer was fine yesterday. It showed the normal 60.1 mpg that I (supposedly) get for lifetime. I think I just have a minor temporary glitch... (Or maybe I photoshopped the picture? )
I usually never check the history screen or any of those features. (Still a CAMRY driver I guess!) But I did scroll though the various info screens this morning, and the history was blank. I'm going for another drive this afternoon. I'll report back. I'm sure it's just a minor temporary boondoggle.
She is bragging for a date. However, we need to hide the data before they ban these cars for being too efficient.
My Penelope must have indigestion. I shouldn't have fed her that chocolate ice cream in the fuel tank. This morning, the lifetime MPG immediately dropped down from that crazy 149, down to 52. After a couple miles, it shot up to 63. A few more miles and it was 58. After about 30 miles of city driving, it settled in at 64. I'll take it.
