No place to plug in an EV and tiny cars make me more nervous than usual. : ) I still love the style of the Mini Cooper.

I was able to figure it out because that was one of the cars she test-drove. :)[/QUOTE]
She actually bought and then traded in. : /

I only bought it out of desperation while waiting for that darn Prius that was stuck at the port. I was losing sleep being concerned that the funding would evaporate and tariffs etc. so I grabbed a 2025 CCH thru the AAA online buying program. When I went to pick it up (day after test driving) I saw that the hatch was misaligned. Last minute FB CCH owners for-warned me to look for this issue. Dealership wouldn’t fix it so I impulsively took the blue crush color instead. After driving it and working really hard to get 40 mpg I had terrible buyers remorse. Went to my local dealership admitting what I did and they gave me a great trade in offer and I worked my butt off to convince them to pull a 2025 silver Prius on its way to MA then discount it enough ($2k) so that I didn’t have to pay any additional $$ for the difference and duplication of fees. They were able to redirect it mid allocation (on boat) which they should have tried doing months ago!

I miss the power hatch, taller cargo space and amazing adaptive headlights but don’t miss the floaty suspension and fuel economy struggle. The agility of the Prius already saved me when someone turned into my lane but I worry about the pot holes every day. : /

You will probably have only about $100 a year of savings in fuel over the Corolla Cross Hybrid. If people prefer an SUV, they would ignore that and go with the Corolla Cross Hybrid.

Consumer Reports gave 82 to Corolla Cross Hybrid and 76 to Prius XLE AWD in road-test ratings. They rated the ride of the Corolla Cross Hybrid higher (4 vs. 3), and the Corolla Cross Hybrid also scored higher in emergency-handling maneuver that you mentioned (55 mph vs. 54 mph). So, the facts aside, it boils down to subjective perceptions in choosing one over the other. I would probably choose the Prius as well.

As for the color, the silver is so–so and traditional but bland and unimpressive. The most impressive Gen 5 colors seem to be the white and black, the former with the premium pearlescent shine and the latter with the classy looks, albeit needing more frequent washes.

Neither car is ideal. I definitely feel more secure going around corners in the Prius whether I’m safer or not. The CCH definitely has a more cushy feel which I’m
    sure increased Consumer Reports rating.

I’m looking at it as 100 miles further per fill up. I don’t like burning excess fuel or going to the gas station.

I calculated the gas savings based on a future gas price of $4 per gallon / 15k miles per year and came up with roughly $300 savings per year. Not much but every bit counts.

Color is subjective. I think the Prius looks best in red and blue. I would never drive a black car and the white isn’t a soft white like the blizzard pearl of previous years.

CCH was industrial looking in sliver and the big bulgy black grill (gone for 2026) blended in better with the blue crush but the blue looked filthy two days into ownership. My favorite colors in the CCH are arctic blast (discontinued) and red but I love that they are adding Calvary Blue for 2026. If someone were to tap me on the shoulder a few years from now and offer me a 2028 Calvary Blue CCH, I might say yes! : )

I dislike the Gen 5 gray, not into the dark blue either. Red is kinda nice. Silver is nothing flashy but classic. Black is elegant but, yeah, hot and dusty. I like the luxurious pearlescent third coat on the white.

Corolla Cross Hybrid got a higher road-test score probably because of overall comfort and convenience.
